DPS Export for PowerPoint is a PowerPoint add-in that converts Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 and 2013 presentations to Adobe DPS folios. When you install DPS Export for PowerPoint on a Windows computer, a 'DPS Export' add-in tab appears in PowerPoint. You can then specify export settings and export the slide deck.
The PowerPoint add-in lets you export slides as articles in a DPS folio.
- Windows 7 or Windows 8
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 or 2013 32bit (Mac OS versions of PowerPoint do not offer the required add-in features)
- .NET Framework 4 or later (included in DPS Export for PowerPoint installer)
- Visual Studio Tools for Office Runtime (included in DPS Export for PowerPoint installer)
- Adobe Content Viewer for Desktop1
- Adobe Content Viewer for device (download from iOS App Store, Google Play Store, or Windows Store)
- Enterprise DPS subscription (required to upload folio)
1 The Content Viewer for Desktop is included in DPS Export for PowerPoint installer on computers running versions lower than Windows 8.1. For Windows 8.1, install Adobe Content Viewer in Windows Store.
Use the following link to download and run the installer files.
View James Lockman's Converting PowerPoint to Adobe DPS video.
See James Lockman's Use PowerPoint Presentations in Adobe DPS article.
- Install the DPS Export for PowerPoint add-in and launch PowerPoint.
- If your presentation includes sections (Insert > Section), the slides in each section are exported as an article. If your presentation does not include sections, each slide is exported as an article.
- In the add-in toolbar, click Account, and then specify the Application account in which the folio will appear.Specifying the account information is required to export and upload the content. Previewing the content does not require account information. You can also specify a proxy server address and port for your LAN.
- Click 'Preview' to create only a local version of the file to be previewed in desktop viewer.
- Click 'Upload' to upload the folio to the Adobe Folio Producer Service. Make sure that you have used the Account option to sign in.
The information you specify is used for both the folio and article metadata. For example, the Publication Name is used for both the Publication Name and Description in the folio, and Author is used for the Author fields in all the articles. You can edit these settings in Folio Producer before publishing the folio. For more information about these options, see Changing folio properties and Managing articles in DPS Help.- If you need to make changes to source content of the uploaded folio, re-export the presentation in PowerPoint. If you use the same filename, the exported content will replace the existing content.
- If you need to create a different folio size for other supported devices, or if you need to change the Export settings, rename the PowerPoint file and preview/upload again.
- If you need to make changes to source content of the uploaded folio, re-export the presentation in PowerPoint. If you use the same filename, the exported content will replace the existing content.
- Slides are exported in a landscape-only folio. If your presentation includes sections (Insert > Section), the slides in each section are exported as an article. If your presentation does not include sections, each slide is exported as an article.
- The content is scaled and letterboxed to fit within the specified Target Device size.
- PowerPoint hyperlinks are converted to hyperlink overlays, and PowerPoint motion paths and most animations can be exported as Image Sequence overlays in DPS. Audio (.mp3) and video (.mp4) files are exported as overlays. For a detailed list of supported overlays, see Use PowerPoint Presentations in Adobe DPS.
- Horizontal and vertical images are generated for cover images. Consider replacing these cover images. You might also want to edit the metadata of the folio and articles in Folio Producer.
- If you export a presentation and decide you need to edit it, delete the folio and re-export the presentation. The ability to edit an exported PowerPoint folio is not yet supported.
- If PowerPoint animations do not export properly, consider exporting with Enable Interactive Elements turned off.
- At this time, you cannot export content for Digital Publishing Solution (DPS 2015). However, you can publish the exported folio in DPS and then migrate the folio to a DPS 2015 project.
